The Connecticut House of Representatives has unanimously passed a bill that would establish a “workforce development pipeline program” for residents with disabilities. The measure now goes to the Connecticut Senate.
The bill directs the Department of Economic and Community Development to create the plan by Sept. 1, submit any recommendations for legislative proposals necessary to for the plan to the Joint Committee on Commerce by Dec. 1, and implement the plan by July 1, 2022.
The bill says the program should help disabled residents by incentivizing businesses to:
- Provide training programs to disabled residents
- Offer modified interviews
- Reserve market-rate, full-time jobs for these disabled residents
