Connecticut Launching Campaign to Promote Safe Tourism This Summer

  • “Say Yes to Connecticut” debuts on several marketing channels
  • Campaign is a response to increased optimism and pent-up demand for travel in the Northeast
  • DECD says Connecticut’s tourism industry supports more than 123,000 jobs

Summary by Dirk Langeveld

Connecticut has launched a $1.2 million campaign aimed at supporting the recovery of its tourism industry and promoting safe vacationing in the state this summer.

The “Say Yes to Connecticut” campaign caters to growing optimism in the Northeast as COVID-19 vaccines are distributed as well as a pent-up demand for travel, including regional travel. Governor Ned Lamont said the tourism industry in Connecticut helps support business sales, create jobs, and generate tax revenue.

The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development says the tourism industry supports more than 123,000 jobs in Connecticut and generates $15.5 billion in business sales and $2.2 billion in tax revenue.

The campaign will:

  • Run through Sept. 6
  • Use channels such as television, social media, and paid search marketing
  • Be funded through the Office of Tourism’s existing statewide tourism marketing budget
  • Note that indoor mask wearing will still be required at Connecticut attractions
