- Accenture poll finds that 83 percent of employees want to work remotely at least 25 percent of the time
- High revenue growth companies have been more likely to embrace “productivity everywhere” models
- Younger workers more likely to seek in-person collaborations to help with their professional development
Summary by Dirk Langeveld
A hybrid work model is the preferred option of most employees, according to a recent poll from the business services company Accenture. While many workers are looking to return to some in-person interaction after the COVID-19 pandemic, the vast majority prefer to spend at least one-quarter of their work week completing tasks remotely.
Accenture polled 9,326 employees and found that 83 percent want to work remotely at least 25 percent of the time. A strong share reported that remote work had proved beneficial, with 40 percent saying they felt more productive and healthier working a remote or hybrid schedule rather than spending the entire work week in an office.
Other findings included:
- Sixty-nine percent of negative or no revenue growth companies favor fully remote or fully in-person models, while 63 percent of high revenue growth companies have enabled “productivity anywhere” models allowing workers to choose where they work
- Younger workers desire more in-person work to develop professionally, with 74 percent of Generation Z employees favoring such collaboration (compared to about two-thirds of Gen Xers and baby boomers)
- Accenture encourages companies to make resources available to remote workers, make efforts to build employee trust, and foster personal connections and workplace training opportunities
