Consumer protection covers all divisions of business, from drug control, food standards, gaming, investigations, license services, liquor control, and occupational and professional licensing. The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection issues licenses, registrations, and permits for more than 200 types of jobs and businesses. The department also works to enforce state and federal regulations, monitor the marketplace for instances of fraud or unsafe products, and manage consumer complaints.

The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection issues licenses, registrations, and permits for a wide variety of businesses. It also provides resources on topics such as advertising practices, privacy and security issues, rules for refunds, and responding to customer complaints.

Consumer Resources and Complaint Center

A consumer portal maintained by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection provides information on disputes, deceptive practices, fraud, and other issues in numerous fields and practices. A Complaint Center allows consumers to formally file a complaint, after which the department attempts to resolve the issue.
