About

A voluntary, cooperative effort among a diverse set of partners to promote conservation in the Thames River watershed and surrounding areas, which covers much of eastern Connecticut as well as parts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Any business or organization sharing the Thames River Basin Partnership’s key areas of concern is welcomed to become a partner.

Who’s it for?

Any business or organization with an interest in promoting conservation and environmental efforts in eastern Connecticut.

Mission

To protect the region’s agricultural and natural resources threatened by land use changes, protect ground and surface water quantity and quality being threatened and degraded by contamination, protect the region’s biodiversity, and improve coastal zone resource conditions.

Resources & Services

Conservation Projects

Through its meetings, the Thames River Basin Partnership discusses ways to collaborate on conservation projects through direct funding, technical assistance, and other means. Past projects have included efforts to improve soil and water health, reduce pathogens in agricultural runoff, and accelerate the pace of woodland conservation.

Floating Workshops

In this annual event, the Thames River Basin Partnership are casual on-water meetings featuring a conservation theme and how partners address it. The workshops are usually held in June.

Resources

The Thames River Basin Partnership provides a variety of resources on conservation issues, including water quality reports and plans, mapping tools, interactive guides, and educational resources.
